We needed a new slogan and the best that a quarter of a million dollars paid to an marketing firm could belch up was &#8220;New Jersey, we&#8217;ll win you over&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>So Codey sent out a plea to the huddled masses (with long distance &amp; an internet connection) for a new state slogan. They came up with some winners! Here&#8217;s a few of my favorites gleaned from the internet:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> New Jersey: You Gotta Problem Wit Dat?<\/li>\n<li> Welcome to New Jersey. Expect Delays.<\/li>\n<li> NJ: Sold to Corzine.<\/li>\n<li> New Jersey &#8211; It&#8217;s not as bad as it smells!<\/li>\n<li> New Jersey: Come Glow With Us.<\/li>\n<li> NJ: The Traffic Will Kill You. Have a Nice Day.<\/li>\n<li> NJ: Toxic Waste for all!<\/li>\n<li> Welcome to the Garden State. Become our fertilizer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I was pretty sure I could do better, so I came up with not just some slogans, but a mascot &amp; limerick as well.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> New Jersey &#8211; A Developers Dream!<\/li>\n<li> NJ: You could have it all. My empire of dirt. I will let you down. I will make you hurt.<\/li>\n<li> NJ: Fuckin&#8217; Gulf Stream, Yo!<\/li>\n<li> New Jersey &#8211; The Rental State<\/li>\n<li>NJ Drivin&#8217; &#8211; The Horns of Plenty<\/li>\n<li> New Joisey &#8211; where New Yorkas go ta die.<\/li>\n<li> NJ: What? You gunna drive all the way to Maryland?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table style=\"vertical-align: top\" border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"20\" width=\"640\">\n<tr>\n<td width=\"400\"><strong>New Mascot: <\/strong><br \/>\nElizabeth, The Toll&#8217;s Belle for thee!(See right) She&#8217;s from the NJ state flag, Ai, so she is. Notice the toll taking hand and the reminder of the horns of plenty. Her hair is also big, which I think is generally representative of the state.<br \/>\nI didn&#8217;t retouch anything else! The groucho mustache is authentic! Don&#8217;t believe me, check <a href=\"http:\/\/www.netstate.com\/states\/symb\/flags\/nj_flag.htm\" class=\"external\" title=\"Opens in new window\" alt=\"Opens in new window\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Limerick: <\/strong><br \/>\nHey! Move to N.J. like a Chump!<br \/>\nBreathe our air! Develop a<em> lump<\/em>!<br \/>\nTap water? Stomach pumper!<br \/>\nOur roads?
